Clinical Clerkships

The Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) is an affiliated teaching hospital of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) and, in collaboration with NASKHO, offers a wide range of clinical clerkships. These are available to students in the second and third year of the Master’s program across all clinical specialties, as well as in extramural care, general practice, and public health.

CMC also provides a unique opportunity for local medical students to gain hands-on experience within the Curaçao healthcare system during dedicated clinical rotations.

Eligibility and Placement

• Students in the second year of the Master’s program at UMCG (M2) may complete their full one-year internship at CMC, following selection through UMCG’s internal placement process.
• Priority for internship placements—after UMCG M2 students—is given to medical students from Curaçao who are studying abroad.

In addition, CMC offers internship opportunities to:

• Medical students from other universities (elective internships of up to 8 weeks, starting from the fifth year of study)
• Final-year medical students (third year of the Master’s program)
