World Health Organization defines healthy aging as the process of developing and maintaining the functional ability that enables wellbeing in older age.

The goal of this symposium is to familiarize the participants with the science of healthy aging and to disseminate best practice interventions targeting primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. Healthy aging ranges from lifestyle habits from youth onwards, prolonging healthy life years (disability-free life expectancy), exploring the science of longevity, rejuvenation research and employability of aging workers. From a societal perspective, the topic of healthy aging also has implications for (informal) caregivers, residential facilities as well as the long-term sustainability of social insurance and other instruments of financing.
