First Women's Health Conference Sint Maarten
Putting our Caribbean Queens in the spotlight
It is time to finally give extra attention to the generations of strong Caribbean women; grandmothers, mothers & ambitious girls who keep this society at its feet.
For years its known that men and women differ physically, emotionally and mentally; that is why they make such a great team. But for medical professionals it is important to realize males and females are not interchangeable in the way we approach and treat both genders. Symptoms can present in different ways, medicine do not work the same and side effects can present differently in men and women, to name a few examples.
Furthermore, there are illnesses that only affect women, e.g. gynecological cancers. Hormonal balances have a big impact on our overall wellbeing. Those balances change a lot over the course of a woman’s life span. The menopause has a very big effect on the wellbeing and functioning of women. This has been under-acknowledged until recent. Time to teach our medical professionals how to address and treat these peri-menopausal symptoms in a safe way and re-strengthen the women that have carried our society for so long. What about the way women experience psychological stress or trauma and how do they deal with sexuality and their (gender)role in this society?
So many interesting topics in women’s health to articulate on. It was time to organize a full conference on WOMEN only!
Therefore, we decided to address a variety of illnesses, symptoms, hormonal changes, psychological & sexual subjects over the generations, from girls to grandmothers.
With topics like this, we rest assured this will be an inspiring and fruitful conference on women’s health. We hope to see you at the American University of Medicine AUC on the 13th and 14th of June 2025.
