Treatment is possible up to 24 h ours after the onset of symptoms\, although earlier treatment still leads to better (functional) outcomes.\nWhile these treatments and the necessary diagnostic tools are available in many countries\, access remains limited in many regions\, including most of the Caribbean. Implementing what is n ow considered basic acute stroke care presents significant challenges on t he Caribbean islands\, due to financial\, geographical\, and socioeconomic factors.
