Labknowledge Foundation in collaboration with Naskho Curacao is pleased to invite you to the 1st Caribbean Antimicrobial Stewardship Conference to be held in Curacao on September 14th and 15th 2018.
Antibiotic Stewardship is the development, promotion and implementation of activities to ensure the appropriate use of antibiotics. Antimicrobial stewardship is a coordinated program that improves patient outcome, reduces microbial resistance and decreases the spread of infections caused by multi-drug resistant organisms.
Misuse and overuse of antimicrobials is one of the world’s most pressing public health problems. Infection organisms adapt to the antimicrobials designed to kill them, making the drugs ineffective. People infected with antimicrobial-resistant organisms are more likely to have longer, more expensive hospital stays, and may be more likely to die as a result of an infection.
Labknowledge Foundation aims through this conference at bringing together well-known personalities around the Caribbean, creating a platform for Medical practitioners, Medical technicians, Pharmacists and Healthcare providers to exchange ideas, knowledge and encourage networking. This network will enable the members to outline the role of health care providers in the antimicrobial stewardship program.
