DESCRIPTION:
\nSuccesses and challenges\nThe Caribbean region has the second highe
st HIV prevalence globally\, following sub-Saharan Africa. Despite access
to testing and treatment\, the number of new HIV diagnoses in the Dutch Ca
ribbean region has not been decreasing\, in contrast to global trends. UNA
IDS has set global targets\, 90-90-90\, which are essential for ending the
HIV epidemic: 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV statu
s\, 90% of all people diagnosed with HIV will receive sustained antiretrov
iral therapy\, and 90% of all people receiving therapy will have reached v
iral suppression. These targets require early identification\, retention i
n care on effective treatment\, and adequate virological suppression. In t
he past 4 years we have conducted the SPIRIT study to gain insight into th
e HIV epidemic in Aruba\, Bonaire\, and Curacao and their challenges to re
ach the 90-90-90 goals.\nDuring this conference\, we will provide you with
an in-depth overview of the HIV epidemic on the islands and give an updat
e on the latest scientific breakthroughs. Extensive attention will be paid
to:\n\nThe local HIV epidemic\nHIV diagnostics: Risk factors for late dia
